Sunday June 9, 2013 Day 8 0 miles Total miles 266

Our second day at Presque Isle Harbor

I woke at 6:30 am (me? why?) to clear blue skies and temperatures finally above 60 degrees!  Charlie and Sonny left the harbor on Kokomo about 7 am bound for Rogers City where she'll be docked for the summer.  I spent some quiet time blogging and when Gar got up at 8, we took a walk to the end of the pier to get some pics of this beautiful harbor.

This is just one of the many beautiful spots we'll be visiting this summer!

Doug and Jan served a lovely french toast breakfast on the back
deck and then it was time to break out the bikes for some sightseeing.  First stop, the lighthouses (yes there are 2) a couple of miles away.

The "old" lighthouse circa 1840

The "new" light circa 1870

We hit the new light first and made the climb to the top --- 130 spiral steps --- we'll certainly be in shape by the end of this trip!!  The view from the top was fantastic!

We did the tourist thing and went through the lightkeeper's cottage/museum at both locations and then hopped back on the bikes.  We headed back past the marina for a total 10 mile tour.  Back at the marina we had a quick lunch.  Then while Garry and Doug worked on a couple of "projects", Jan and I hit the gift shop -- still trying to replace my favorite Presque Isle sweatshirt, to no avail.

Later, we enjoyed dinner at the restaurant right here at the marina --- we all had fish of some sort, salmon, walley and whitefish --- excellent!  After checking in on "Chuck's" (a friend of Martins doing the Loop), we retired for the night.
