Saturday June 15, 2013 Day 14 ---- 37 mi / Total 383 mi

Did I say calm??

This morning the skies are mostly cloudy and it's still cool (55 degrees), but absolutely calm.  Doug had to .make a quick trip to the bakery to pick up his cherry pie and our cinnamon rolls before our 8:30 departure.  We are headed to the St. Mary's River, the link between Lake Huron and Lake Superior.  We're so excited to be close to "Father Superior"!

No, REALLY calm!

We had the lake to ourselves until we neared the DeTour Reef Light marking the entrance into the St. Mary river.  This lighthouse is the only offshore light offering "volunteer lightkeeper" weekends.  At 74 ft, on a clear day, you can "see forever"! .

Once again we are dodging fish nets, fisherman and ferries as we turn north!  Rounding the lighthouse, DeTour is the small village on the mainland on our left with Drummond Island on our right. ".

The marina at DeTour is under construction and we hope to be able to stay there on our return trip.  Upbound, we'll take a "detour" to Drummond Island and likely stay 2 nights.  We followed the well-marked channel through several little islands to Drummond Island Yacht Haven.  We secured Waterford while DayDreams got a REAL pump out and then joined us at the dock.  All set by 1:30 pm.

We got all checked in and then got the bikes out for a litlle recon.  Though small, it does boast a post office, visitor's welcome center (closed of course), grocery, clothing/gift shops and the mandatory lumber/hadware store.  While the guys hit the hardware store, I found a couple of great sweatshirts -- a successful excursion.  Then it was back to the boats for cocktail hour.  Doug did a great turkey loin for dinner aboard DayDreams.  And for dessert ---- remember that cherry pie he picked up this morning?  with a little ice cream.........Delish!
