Saturday June 8, 2013 Day 7 Harrisville to Presque Isle 47 miles - Total 266

We woke to clear blue skies and calm seas.  After taking advantage of the great showers, we were ready to leave the dock by 9am.  Lake Huron was like a bathtub --- not great for sailors, but perfect for us.

By 11 am the skies had become overcast, but the lake remained calm.

As we passed the Sturgeon Point Lighthouse, we caught up with the sailboat Kokomo, who had left Harrisville just ahead of us.  They are also from Toledo Beach/North Cape Yacht Club and heading to Presque Isle --- small world!

Garry took advantage of the calm seas to do a little "chair reefing" project.  Guess he's already tired of getting the chairs out of storage every time we need them.  They are now securely attached on the back deck for quick deployment!

Lunchtime -- another advantage of calm seas, the Admiral/First Mate/Galley Wench can whip up a gourmet salad!

We arrived at beautiful Presque Isle Harbor at 3:30 pm as the sky began to brighten once again.  First stop, the fuel dock for a pump out, then on to our pick of the docks.  Secured side by side, the guys got out the hoses for a quick washdown (one of the Disadvantages of calm seas is the hoard of flies that accumulate).  We're just glad they remain outside!
Kokomo arrived as we were enjoying cocktails and planning our bike trip for tomorrow. Sometime over the next hour or so, the sailors presented a lovely bottle of wine.  So we invited Sonny and Charlie aboard after dinner to enjoy the wine and fellowship.

  2. Hello, I'm Jan's brother Bob. It sure sounds like you are all enjoying your adventure. I've been plotting progress in my atlas and while the miles don't seem like a lot, on the map it looks like quite a distance. I hope you all continue to enjoy the adventure and I will continue to follow it.
