You can see why they call it "Blue Water Huron" |
The day started out rather overcast with a clearing line to the west. We left the dock with Waterford in the lead at 9 am. Winds were out of the NE 15 knots with wave forecast for 1-3 feet. Like yesterday, waves were 2-3 ft for the first couple of hours crossing the open mouth of Saginaw Bay, diminishing later in the day.
Harbormaster Steve and Hannah |
We pulled into Harrisville Harbor of Refuge where the able harbor crew had us snug in our docks by 3:30 pm.
Snug as 2 bugs!
Everyone had housekeeping chores to do, so while Doug and Garry spruced up outside, Jan and I vacuumed and spruced up inside. Chores done, we set out on a walk. First stop, Northern Accents, a great store with everything you need to furnish your "up north" cabin -- and also great nautical stuff. Garry and I found a great rug for the threshold, you'll see it next time you visit! We continued our walk, made a quick stop at the grocery for some fresh produce and then back to the boats for cocktail hour.
Can't go wrong with Superior Nights |
By the time we finished cocktail hour (or so), skies had cleared and the wind had died down, making it a perfect evening for dinner on the back deck.
We had a lovely dinner followed by wine and chocolate -- just a beautiful evening. And as the skies darkened, the sky was ablaze with stars. That prompted Doug to break out the Star Guide app and find all the constellations. How does that song go?? Starry Starry night..........
