Sunday July 7, 2013 Day 36 Ontonagon 46 miles / 762 toal

It had rained overnight Saturday and was still raining at 8 a.m. so we didn't depart Houghton until nearly 9 a.m.  With Day Dreams in the lead, we made our way through the waterway and back into Lake Superior.  Fog descended and stayed with us most of the way, clearing just in time to enter the Ontonagon River channel to the dock.  The water is a "lovely" chocolate brown spilling out into Superior.

Not a lot of activity at the marina ---- a few seasonal boats, no harbormaster on site, small but clean bathrooms/showers and not another soul around.  Day Dreams docked first and then gave us a hand.  Later we met one of the local boaters who offered transportation into town (on the other side of the river from the marina).  We had stocked up in Houghton, but appreciated the offer.  We also met a young family on an Island Packet, heading in the opposite direction.  We enjoyed talking with them and sharing information on docks along the way.  They are heading all the way to Lake Michigan --- safe travels, Emogene!

A very quiet night.
